Teck Whye Concert Band was officially formed in 2003 after departing from a long illustrious history of a marching band tradition. The band motto, Unique and Versatile, propels the band from the fields to the concert stage with an intrepid spirit for excellence in performance. Under the direction of Mr. Tan Beng Wee, the concert band at its infancy, remarkably achieved a bronze medal in the 2005 Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging of Concert Bands.

The current membership stands at sixty, and together with the Teck Whye Alumni Band, we aspire to be the ultimate platform for character development of our students and aesthetic expression through music.

Band Milestone 1972: Teck Whye Marching Band (outdoor) formed.

1974: Teck Whye Marching Band continued to function on its own but joined Bukit Panjang Govt High Marching Band to form a combined Bukit Panjang Govt High - Teck Whye Marching Band (for competition purposes). Was top 10 out of 30 in the Marching Bands (outdoor) Competition.

1975-2002: Continued in winning awards as the
Bukit Panjang Govt High - Teck Whye combined Marching Band.

2003: Separated from the Bukit Panjang Govt High - Teck Whye combined Marching Band, and formed the Teck Whye Concert Band (indoor).

2004: Performed publicly for the first time as a Concert Band at the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Hall.

2005: Participated for the first time as a Concert Band at the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging and won a Bronze award.

2006: Performed publicly in its very own Band Concert at the Victoria Concert Hall - Fiesta 2006.

2007: The Launch of the Band's Own Independent Concert Series - Musica Briosa.

Wah... we are band no. 90, the 12th band on day 5 - 3 april.

SYF is just in a few practices away. We have about 15 hours of official band practices left in the month of March, how much of this 15 hours can be useful and productive? 15 hours of official band practices can't get us anywhere...

Gold with Honour: Above 85%
Gold: 80% to 84%
Silver: 70% to 79%
Bronze: 60% to 69%
COP: 59% and below

As you can see, it's very hard to achieve either Silver or Gold, but with determination and the hunger for success, we can break through our records of Bronze medals.
