Teck Whye Concert Band was officially formed in 2003 after departing from a long illustrious history of a marching band tradition.
The band motto, Unique and Versatile, propels the band from the fields to the concert stage with an intrepid spirit for excellence in performance.
Under the direction of Mr. Tan Beng Wee, the concert band at its infancy, remarkably achieved a bronze medal in the 2005 Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging of Concert Bands.
The current membership stands at sixty, and together with the Teck Whye Alumni Band, we aspire to be the ultimate platform for character development of our students and aesthetic expression through music.

Dear members
Firstly, we must really say that the majority of the band has put in a lot of effort in practicing your pieces and stuffs. A fairly good job done during the exchange. However, do not be complacent. As what Mr.
Ng said, we are still a bronze band, far from a silver. We really have to say that there are a handful of people need to practice a lot more. The band is as strong as the weakest player, it's time to look around the band and set higher expectations. Everyone in the band must put in the effort so that we can progress better. Aim to sound as good or even better as the pieces you hear in the blog. The standard five, we need to
achieve one more defence which is unknown to everyone of us. Come on, we have to greed for the last defence!
Secondly, We will be having an exchange with mayflower secondary school on the 30
th of December which had achieve a silver medal last
SYF. I have scheduled some practices and one day for video shoot to submit to the competition board which I find it very important for you guys to attend. It will be compulsory for each and every one of us to attend unless you are going for holidays, sick, or having lessons. So do make an effort to come.

You will also be enchanted by the beautiful sound of the oboe in the Cappricio for Oboe and Band by A. Ponchielle, featuring Tay Kai Tze, a musician of The Philharmonic Winds.
Finally, be thrilled by Alfred Reed's masterpiece, the exciting El Camino Real, and A Movement for Rosa by Mark Camphouse, which pays a moving tribute to heroine Rosa Parks.

Woohoo! A new band blogskin is finally up... took me quite some time.
I need all sections complete members' photograph, as in section photo with complete members. When there is a band practice with all the band members around, we will be having photography session hopefully, a formal one and an informal one, hopefully before SYF. Due to time constraint, sections' photography will happen during lunch-break when your section members are present. So far, if I am not wrong, the following sections have their complete section photos:
1. Flute
2. Trombone
3. Horn
I am still waiting for other sections. I am also waiting for the full band committee for the committee photo to be pinned on the notice board. Come on, Teck Whye Concert Band, I really need the photos of the full band, complete section photos and committee photos.
