Teck Whye Concert Band was officially formed in 2003 after departing from a long illustrious history of a marching band tradition.
The band motto, Unique and Versatile, propels the band from the fields to the concert stage with an intrepid spirit for excellence in performance.
Under the direction of Mr. Tan Beng Wee, the concert band at its infancy, remarkably achieved a bronze medal in the 2005 Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging of Concert Bands.
The current membership stands at sixty, and together with the Teck Whye Alumni Band, we aspire to be the ultimate platform for character development of our students and aesthetic expression through music.

Mr Darren Sim
Mr Darren Sim graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Music Education (first class honours) with a minor in Instrumental Pedagogy.
In his eight years of teaching, he has directed and worked with numerous Singaporean and Australian school bands as well as lecturing at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts
Mr Sim has a great fascination with the sound that instrument make and has learnt all the instruments of the modern concert band, including stringed instruments like the violin, cello and double bass.
He is now currently leaning the Indian stringed instruments, the Sarod and the Sitar. Though a band director, he is equally comfortable teaching and directing choirs, orchestras and other ensembles as well as teaching music in classroom.
From 2008 - 2010, Darren joined the Ministry of Education as a Music teacher, where he spearheaded the H2 Music orogramme at Victoria Junior College.
He noe tutors Horn and Brass at various schools and is currently the band director at Teck Whye Secondary School.

Dear Band Members,
You are to attend the NDP/Public Concert Rehearsals on the following dates:
29 July (Tuesday) - NDP Rehearsal: 3.30pm to 7pm 30 July (Wednesday) - NDP Rehearsal: 4.00pm 1 August (Friday) - Public Concert Rehearsal at Singapore Poly: 2pm to 7pm 5 August (Tuesday) - Public Concert Rehearsal in the School Hall: 4pm to 7pm 6 August (Wednesday) - Tentative NDP Rehearsal: to be confirmed 7 August (Thursday) - Public Concert 2008 [Fiesta 08] at Singapore Poly: 2pm to 10pm 8 August (Friday) - NDP 2008 at TWSS: 6.30am to 10am
Band Members are to attend band practices on Wednesday and Friday as per normal. Those that are not able to make it on any of the rehearsals that fall on either Tuesday or Thursday, please inform your SL.

Dear band members,
Well firstly, we really have to thank the committee for their effort in organising everything for this events. We did quite a great job for the investiture yesterday, everything went smoothly as planned. The band have come a long way especially the juniors, no doubt that they are quite fast learners. We hope you guys will not stop here, but continue to strive, achieve and become a better musician in the band.
Secondly, I hope the band will give their fullest support to the new appointed band committee. The band committee is here to take care and serve the band. Please don't create any difficulty for them ok.!
Next major events that will be coming up will be Public Concert 2008 and the National Day Parade. Everyone please practice and work hard together as a band. FYI, there are no more junior band! Woohoo! So stronger musicians, please help the weaker musicians to improve. Remember, the band is as strong as its weakest musician!
Lastly, just a reminder that there will be morning duty tomorrow, all seniors are expected to come punctually. Thanks! =)
